"Believe in Magic" is a song by American rapper Jim Jones, produced by musician Girl Talk. It was the result of a special episode of the Pitchfork "Selector" series, in which the two artists were brought together at Jones' NoMad Distriict studio.[1] Girl Talk produced the beat using samples the 1970 song "Want Ads" by Honey Cone, and Jones freestyled lyrics over the beat afterwards.[1]
Impressed with the final result, Jones recruited American R&B singer Lloyd to record a hook for the song and considered releasing the song as a single.[1] The instrumental track was released as a single in its own right as a free download on the Illegal Art website.[2]
